The power of inquiry

I’m asked why it helps to phrase the titles of information graphics as questions. That’s a good question! Now I have a couple articles from Fast Company and Harvard Business Review to justify the approach.

Warren Berger wrote a book recently called A More Beautiful Question, and puts forth the idea that asking “how might we” is a better to draw in discussion and contemplation. Questions provide several advantages over statements, including:

  1. Proceed in the face of uncertainty and doubtEngage the mind and fire the imagination
  2. Be less intimidating than when providing resolutions
  3. Solicit more shared ideas

There are several more books and advocates quoted in the articles linked above who will share their passion for using questions to innovate.
