I’m asked why it helps to phrase the titles of information graphics as questions. That’s a good question! Now I have a couple articles from Fast Company and Harvard Business Review to justify the approach.
Warren Berger wrote a book recently called A More Beautiful Question, and puts forth the idea that asking “how might we” is a better to draw in discussion and contemplation. Questions provide several advantages over statements, including:
- Proceed in the face of uncertainty and doubtEngage the mind and fire the imagination
- Be less intimidating than when providing resolutions
- Solicit more shared ideas
There are several more books and advocates quoted in the articles linked above who will share their passion for using questions to innovate.
